Mrs. Dara Loftis teaches English Literature at South Pasadena High School. This web site serves as an educational resource for her 10th and 12th grade students. Think of it as an online extension of her classroom.
STUDENT INSTRUCTIONS
1) Step One = Registration
To begin using LoftLit, you must REGISTER a user account. Registration instructions are available as a PDF document. Click the following link to download the PDF: LoftLit Instructions. Registration is only available to current (or former) students of Mrs. Loftis. It is important that you register through the blog’s interface (Wordpress) rather than the forum’s interface (Simple Machine). When you register with the blog, you are automatically registered with the forum software as well, but it does not work in reverse. Therefore, use only this link to register.
2) Step Two = Familiarize yourself with your grade’s information page.
- Sophomores - click on “Lit 10” for your information page.
- Seniors - click on “Lit 12” for your information page.
3) Step Three = Participate in discussions in your grade’s forum.
When you visit the Discussion Forum, click on the discussion topic(s) in your grade’s section of the forum to view the prompt(s) Mrs. Loftis assigns. The user interface for creating a post and commenting on others’ posts is fairly self-explanatory. Watch the announcement category in your grade’s forum for important information from Mrs. Loftis.
IS YOUR WEB BROWSER UP-TO-DATE?
This site is best viewed using the most up-to-date, standards compliant browsers. The server technology that runs the LoftLit site may not display properly in older browsers like Internet Explorer 6. Many of you that are using a PC with the Windows Operating System are likely viewing this page in IE6. Microsoft quietly updated their browser to IE Version 7 this last year, so lots of users are unaware of it. I highly recommend upgrading. Firefox is an excellent browser alternative for both the PC and Mac platforms.
